at Xavier School of Medicine, Aruba

Xavier University School of Medicine (XUSOM), is an accredited medical school, located on the beautiful island of Aruba. The school was founded to train students in the art of medicine via a U.S. based medical school curriculum. The entire focus of our program is to ensure students receive the knowledge they need to successfully enter U.S. residency programs as competent physicians. We are expanding and looking for talented people, who can grow with us. We are building a Nursing Program, as an addition to our already successful Medical Program. We are pleased to announce the following new Administrative Faculty positions:

Dean of Nursing:
  1. The Dean of Nursing reports directly to the Chief Academic Officer, develops the Nursing curriculum, and leads us in the accreditation process. The Dean is responsible for advancing strategic educational initiatives, creating academic and clinical partnerships, developing and implementing new programs, advancing faculty development, and mobilizing educational resources.
  2. The Dean serves as a member of the senior administrative team and assures compliance with accreditation, certification and regulatory bodies. The Dean participates in the budget planning process with the Dean for the Office of Academic Affairs.
  3. Extensive knowledge of accreditation start-up & development for Nursing School (State and Federal government regulations) including building Twinning Programs is required for the Dean of Nursing Position.
Assistant/ Associate Dean of Clinical Sciences:
  • (THIS POSITION IS THE ONLY ONE LOCATED IN NEW YORK)
  • The Assistant/Associate Dean of Clinical Sciences reports directly to the Dean. S/he is responsible for overseeing Clinical Coordination, and assists the Dean with daily operations of the Clinical program. Provides the day to day management of students' rotations, scheduling and assignments. Supervises the coordination of the students' scheduling. Supervises and audits students' clinical documents and logs.
  • Meets with students to discuss problems or complaints and assists in devising equitable responses and solutions. Supervises, coordinates, retrieves from preceptors, and audits clinical rotation evaluations. Assists in teaching of MD5. Provides leadership in assessing student academic achievement. Provides leadership to improve academic achievement. Serves in committees. Other responsibilities as assigned.
Faculty Positions (Aruba)

    ALL with prior medical school teaching experience (M.D w/Ph.D. preferred). The positions are available immediately and will remain open until filled.

Library Student Worker (Aruba)
    As a library student worker your job is to monitor activity in the library when the librarian is not there. Specific responsibilities are outlined below. Your supervisor is Ms. Kathleen Holcomb and all library issues should be directed to her. The pay rate is $5.00 per hour, which will be applied towards tuition. Student workers must be at the MD1 level or above.

    Job Responsibilities:

  • Student workers will enforce all library rules and policies. This includes but is not limited to: ensuring students sign in and out, keeping library noise level to a minimum, and making sure all bags are placed on the designated shelves. Student workers are also expected to perform any tasks assigned to them by Ms. Holcomb. Student workers will be required to attend periodic library meetings. Student workers are expected to conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times in relation to the library.
  • Failure to meet expectations and/or poor job performance will result in being reprimanded, up to and including termination. Student employees may be terminated at any time. Grievances must follow the chain of command, starting with Ms. Holcomb before being taken further.
  • Hiring:

  • Students will be hired on a semester-to-semester basis. They must reapply for each new semester. Being a current library employee or past employee does not guarantee future employment.
